Since 1973, Theatricum has
operated as a nonprofit, professional Equity repertory
theatre. Our season of Shakespeare, other classics and
socially relevant modern plays runs June through October.
Theatricum offers extensive educational programs for
children and adults. Theatricum is also a preferred arts
education provider for the Los Angeles County Arts
Commission and an Arts Partner of LAUSD. Our in-class
enrichment and field trip programs serve over 22,000
students annually in public, private, magnet and charter
schools, as well as social service agencies.
Introducing young people to classical
theatre is a joy. Students develop an ease with language and
fall in love with Shakespeare. It’s rewarding to see our
students continue to approach these texts throughout their
lives without fear or trepidation. Our techniques lift the
language off the page and into their voices, bodies and
hearts. Our classes enhance communication skills, sharpen
awareness and concentration, while encouraging each child’s
creativity and confidence. Our programs are fun and
non-competitive. Children flourish in an ensemble
environment as they work, solve problems and tell stories
together.
