High School Drama Series
Improvisation to Writing
February 4 - March 24 Saturdays, 2 - 5 pm
FEE: $325

Creativity and personal expression are the foundations of this popular 8-session workshop, where students explore important issues affecting their lives. Through spontaneous improvisation and creative writing exercises, students write short theatrical pieces, and uncover the passion and poetry of our greatest English playwright. Each student rehearses a personally selected Shakespeare monologue! The class culminates in a performance of all original material and Shakespeare. Tuition includes 2 tickets to the performance on the final day of class.
Intensive Shakespeare Seminar
July 9 - August 10 Mon. Wed. Fri., 9 am - 3 pm
FEE: $710

This 5-week, 90-hour workshop is held in Theatricum’s beautiful 300-seat outdoor amphitheatre, 99-seat S. Mark Taper Foundation Youth Pavilion and surrounding grounds. Modeled after our Adult Shakespeare Seminar, teenagers learn classical acting techniques and apply them to Shakespeare scenes and monologues which are performed on August 11. Students must be able to attend the entire session, plus performance date in order to apply.
Tuition includes an 8 x 10 group photo and 2 tickets to the final performance.
Techniques include:
Text Analysis - Improvisation - Scansion - Voice & Speech
Acting Shakespeare - Elizabethan Life & Dance - Fencing - Elizabethan Songs Period Movement - Stage Combat

Commedia to Improv
September 22 - November 10 Saturdays, 2 - 5 pm FEE: $325

One of our most popular classes, this 8-session workshop juxtaposes ancient and modern forms of comedy. Exploring the origins of Commedia dell’arte, students work on stock characters and learn lazzi (scenarios), while they continue to develop their sense of spontaneity through modern improvisation techniques. Tuition includes 2 tickets to the final performance.

High School Repertory Company

For current/former HS Intensive Shakespeare students only, the HS Rep is an opportunity to participate in a full production of an edited Shakespeare play, and to utilize the techniques learned in the seminar. The play is performed on The S. Mark Taper Foundation Youth Pavilion stage.


FEE: $160 due first rehearsal. Each actor will receive 10 tickets which can be resold or distributed at their discretion.
