Drama Series SPRING SESSION:
Improvisation to Writing
February 9- March 29 Saturdays, 2 - 5 pm
FEE: $285
Creativity and personal expression are the foundations of this
popular 8-week workshop, where students explore important issues affecting their
lives.Through spontaneous improvisation, they develop their discoveries into the
writing of short theatrical pieces. Students also uncover the passion and poetry
of our greatest English playwright, as they rehearse a personally selected
Shakespeare monologue! The class culminates in a performance of all original
material and Shakespeare.Tuition includes 2 tickets to performance.
FALL SESSION: Commedia to Improv
September 27 - November 15 Saturdays, 2 - 5 pm FEE: $285
One of our most popular classes, this 8-week workshop juxtaposes
ancient and modern forms of comedy. Exploring the origins of Commedia dell’arte,
students work on stock characters and learn lazzi (scenarios), while they
continue to develop their sense of spontaneity through modern improvisation
techniques. Tuition includes 2 tickets to performance
SUMMER SESSION: Intensive Shakespeare Seminar
July 7 - August 8 Mon., Wed., Fri., 9 am - 3 pm FEE: $675
This 5-week, 90-hour workshop is held at Theatricum’s beautiful
300-seat outdoor amphitheatre and surrounding gardens. Modeled after our Adult
Shakespeare Seminar, teenagers learn acting techniques and apply them to
Shakespeare scenes and monologues which are presented at the final performance
on August 9. Students must attend the entire session, plus performance date in
order to apply. Techniques include:
Text Analysis - Improvisation - Scansion - Voice & Speech
Acting Shakespeare - Elizabethan Life & Dance - Fencing
Elizabethan Songs - Ensemble - Stage Combat
HIGH SCHOOL REPERTORY COMPANY
This program offers current/former Theatricum students the
opportunity to participate in a full production of an edited Shakespeare play.
Actors audition, and after a short rehearsal period, perform on The S. Mark
Taper Foundation Youth Pavilion stage.
FEE: There is no fee, but each actor is required to sell
tickets at $10.00 each (total $100 commitment).
AUDITIONS: July 23 and 25 3 - 6 pm
by appointment only
REHEARSALS: You must be available for all rehearsals &
performances.
July 28- August 8 Mon., Wed.,Fri. 3 - 6 pm
August 12 - 15 Tues., Wed., Thurs., Fri., 10 am - 3 pm
PERFORMANCES: Saturday, August 16 & 23 12 Noon
